Permit Access Only To Registered Users/Members

Problem:

I see that ParaChat Professional can be configured to permit access to registered users only. How does the authentication work?

Solution:

When ParaChat Professional is configured to allow access to registered users only, ParaChat software can authenticate the following types of registered users into your ParaChat rooms:

1. Users who self-register using ParaChat's free integrated member database system

2. User names that a site-level admin user creates on the chat server under User Settings

3. Users who are authenticated off of an external user database via HTTP Authentication

Option 2 is different from Option 1 in that a site-level admin must individually create each user name/password from the service administration web page, and must manage any password changes/updates that should arise. Alternatively, Option 1 allows users to self-register and self-manage password changes. Although Option 1 and 2 use two different databases, the chat software will authenticate users off of both at the same time.
